BE AFRAID. BE VERY AFRAID!

HRA's latest plans, as outlined in their recent 'Advance Australia' Breeders' Presentation have us gravely concerned. How else is one to interpret their delusional reliance on a 'Stallion Service Tax' and a 'Redistribution of Prizemoney' as cornerstones of their proposal to underwrite a Slot Race ('The Pinnacle') to the tune of 1.5 million dollars?
Talk about taking from the poor and giving to the rich! And don't be fooled by their rhetoric ...

HRA's latest plans, as outlined in their recent Advance Australia Breeders' Presentation have us gravely concerned.

Claims that such a Slot Race "Identifies new money..." and is "not just churning existing industry revenue" simply don't stand up to proper scrutiny.  If that were the case, why is there a need to propose a tax on Breeders (viz. their Stallion Service Levy), and on Owners (a Redirection of Prizemoney Distributions) - when these are the very people who already underwrite our industry?  Or, indeed, why does HRA need to inject any funds into a race which is aimed solely at the rich and wealthy?  If they want to race for each other's money, let them do so - as, on this basis, such a Slot Race should be entirely self-funding.

Then we are told that HRA welcomes feedback from Studs as to "what contribution, if any, they would be willing to make via a new Stallion Registration Fee".  And figures as high as 20% are suggested!  If anybody thinks that such an additional fee will be absorbed by the studs, they are living in cloud-cuckoo-land.  Such an impost will come directly out of the pocket of breeders = your pocket (through higher service fees) - straight into the coffers of HRA - and from there on to the rich and famous - whilst grass-roots racing continues to languish.

Believe us, this could be 'terminal' for the industry at large - and, although HRA hasn't invited feedback from individual breeders, we definitely want to hear from you, and therefore invite you to complete a short questionnaire, by following this
