With the conclusion of the semi-finals of the NSW Breeders Challenge 3-YO 'Major Series' last Saturday, it is interesting to take a look at which stallions dominate in terms of representatives in the forthcoming G.1 Finals, which are to be conducted at Tabcorp Park Menangle on Saturday, October 30.

There are two major 'players', each with four runners through to the Finals (incl. emergencies) - one not at all unexpected, as he has dominated G.1 racing across Australia and New Zealand for many, many years - and the other a bit of a surprise ...

But how do all the represented stallions rank relative to the number of starters they had in each of the heats; and in respect of the total number of foals eligible for this state-based series from their 2017 crops?  The following table gives you all the relevant data :

2021 BC Stallion Analysis

Hats off to both A ROCK N ROLL DANCE  and  BETTORS DELIGHT for qualifying FOUR each into the Finals - but likewise we need to acknowledge the terrific performance of 'lesser light' stallions MAJOR IN ART  and  BLISSFULL HALL who, from very small crops (4 respectively 6), each have a runner into the Finals.  Major In Art, from just four BC-eligible foals, got two into this Series = a 50% 'strike rate' which is also unprecedented.

The Full Fields, incl. barrier draws, for Saturday's Finals can be found Here

... and shortly we will be posting the full breeding details of all starters in this Series (from every heat) on our Breeding Statistics page Link Here.

Finally, from a Broodmare Sire perspective, it is interesting to note that the 24 Finalists (incl. emergencies) are represented by 19 different dam sires - so, exactly as was the case with the NSW Regional Finals earlier in the year, breeding diversity rules!

Those with multiple BMS honours are:

  • ART MAJOR   (3)
  • ARMBRO OPERATIVE   (2)
  • CHRISTIAN CULLEN   (2)
  • MACH THREE   (2)

whilst the others in alphabetical order are:

Bettors Delight / Brioso Hanover / Falcon Seelster / Grinfromeartoear / Jennas Beach Boy / Jeremes Jet / Life Sign / Live or Die / Modern Art / Our Sir Vancelot / Rocknroll Hanover / Safely Kept / Stature / Washington VC / Western Terror

We extend our very best wishes to the connections of each and every one of these 3-yo BC Finalists, as they chase Group 1 glory at the end of this week.  Exciting times ...
