Whilst trainers and owners often struggle to find suitable races for their young stock - in particular 2 and 3-year-olds - due to simply shocking programming; or worse, see them failing to get a start as and when such races don't stand up due to a lack of noms;

The recently conducted Heats of the NSW Breeders Challenge 3-yo 'Major Series' serve to underscore the existential problems facing Harness Racing in NSW.  

With the change of season and the timing of the major state futurity series Breeders Challenge, Vicbred & Breeders Crown now October/November do we need to look at changing the timing of The J L Raith Memorial - now late January and Oaks & Derby heats commencing February?
